About Richard A. Bloom

Dr. Bloom is a Rochester native who graduated from Brighton High School in 1970. He spent the next ten years in Cleveland Ohio at Case Western Reserve University where he earned his BA in biology, and his medical degree in 1974 and 1979, respectively. Dr. Bloom completed his internship and residency in Pediatrics at The Children’s Memorial Hospital of Chicago, a division of Northwestern University School of Graduate Medical Education. He currently is a member of the University of Rochester Department of Pediatrics clinical faculty and was promoted to Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in 2017. He is on the staff at Rochester General Hospital, Highland Hospital and Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Bloom joined Fairport Pediatrics, LLP in 1985. He is past president of the Rochester Pediatric Society and has served on multiple pediatric advisory committees to insurers and represented the needs of children in the community to the hospitals. He also mentors high school students from Honeoye Falls, Pittsford, Victor, Palmyra and Fairport school districts in the exploration of healthcare fields. Dr.Bloom has chaired the community fundraiser “Roc the Day” event for the Golisano Children’s Hospital. He was awarded the 2014 Ruth A. Lawrence Academic Faculty Service Award in Community Service from the University of Rochester Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Bloom lives in the Bushnell Basin area of Pittsford and continues to be active in alumni affairs for Case Western Reserve University. He enjoys travel, gardening, snorkeling and sports. Dr. Bloom has been a supporter of local hockey and a Rochester Americans hockey season ticket holder for over 35 years. He is also a well-known collector of quality Native American artifacts.
