Dr. Finnell, our hometown guy and father of three young children joined Fairport Pediatrics in 1999. Born and raised in the Rochester area, Jack graduated from Brighton High School. He attended St. Lawrence University graduating with honors with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology along with being named a member of the National Honor Society of Biology Scholars. Jack went on to receive his Medical Doctorate from Boston’s Tufts University School of Medicine before returning home to complete his Pediatric Residency at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Finnell is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center where he takes an active role in the education and training of both medical students and residents.
Dr. Finnell maintains privileges at the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong, Highland Hospital, and Rochester General Hospital. He greatly enjoys seeing newborns at all of these institutions, as well as, working with children of all ages up to and including those in high school and college. Dr. Finnell has taken on the role of team physician for several of the local high school teams and collaborated with Section V to develop methods to help reduce the transmission of skin infections among high school wrestlers using practices that have now been adopted throughout New York State.
After living in the Park Avenue area during residency, Dr. Finnell now lives in Pittsford with his wife, son and two daughters. In his spare time he enjoys volunteering as well as participating in sports including soccer, skiing, running, and coaching.
We know parents like to meet the pediatrician before committing to an office and we are happy to schedule a meet-the-doctor appointment so you have that opportunity and the ability to briefly discuss any concerns you may have.
I've been very pleased with our experience so far at Fairport Pediatrics! Dr. Finnell & the rest of the staff there are wonderful to work with, and are so great with our 2 month old son! If you're looking for a pediatrician in the area that truly cares - I highly recommend you give them a call.
He is Kind, caring, compassionate and has a great bed side manner. All must haves in a pediatrician.

We absolutely love Dr. Finnell! We have been with him for nearly 13 years and 4 kids. He has seen them off hours, in the hospital, and squeezed into his day if they aren't feeling well. We are incredibly thankful for his care, compassion, and kindness for our children. He is the best!
Our entire team is dedicated to providing the best possible care and support for your child. We look forward to meeting you!
